NBA on ESPN

February 13, 2008

Just to give you a head’s up, tonight ESPN will show the following NBA match-up:

Golden State Warriors vs. Phoenix Suns

That’s right, two of the most entertaining teams in the sport going head-to-head and it is being nationally televised. It is almost too good to be true.

Tune in tonight at 9 PM Eastern.

Hey ma, fire up the DVR.

February 13, 2008

I just read who will be the first couple of hosts of SNL when it comes back on air.

First up, on Feb. 23rd, Tina Fey will return to SNL as the host.

The following Saturday, Ellen Page will have a go as the host of the show.

Should be fun to watch both of them.

Let me start a NBA rumor

February 13, 2008

This is a culmination of several different rumors/articles I have read over the past week or two.

First off, ESPN is testing out a new NBA Trade Machine. There are still some bugs that need to be worked out (i.e. the machine will frequently make it unable to scroll up and down thus cutting off part of the roster to be used in the trade), but it is a great improvement over the previous version of the trade machine.

Second, Memphis is in a bit of a fire sale. After trading Pau, they have pretty much said that they are looking for 1) draft picks 2) expiring contracts and/or 3) young talent. Among the players that have been in the rumor mill are Mike Miller, Kyle Lowry, Javaris Crittenden, and Brian Cardinal.

Third, Golden State has an uncontent player on their hands (Mickael Pietrus) and they have been looking for a back-up PG for the last couple of years (Monta Ellis is a SG and they have given up on trying to make him a PG).

So, putting these three things together, I’ve come up with few different trade possibilities.

When to Expect new shows

February 13, 2008

As you probably know, the Writer’s Strike ended on Tuesday. After the WGA had come to agreement on a contract, they had all the guild members vote on whether to accept the contract or not. A little over 92 percent of the guild members approved the new contract. So, the writers are going back to work.

The obvious next question is, “when will our favorite shows come back with new episodes?”

For most shows, it looks like there will be a run of 5-10 episodes in April or May. Shows with short production times will get back on air a lot sooner (SNL will be back on Feb. 23rd).

A few shows still have a few episodes from before the strike and they may start airing them and lead into the post strike episodes (Reaper has 3 pre-strike episodes in the can).

From what I have read, Scrubs is in an odd position. This season was to be the last season of Scrubs episodes. As such, there is a possibility that the producers may make the last 4 episodes, but they never get shown on NBC (They also have 4 pre-strike episodes in the can that will be aired). They would put the post-strike episodes on the DVDs for the season.

Is it Spring?

February 13, 2008

Pitchers and Catchers start reporting to Spring Training camps today. Feel free to go out and buy some champagne, some roses, and some chocolates to celebrate. Most stores are having a sale on those type items anyway (for whatever reason).
